There are 2 types of MS-DOS commands are:
- Internal command
- External commands

- Internal command
Internal commands are commands that are already in memory when loaded command.com.
- External commands
External command is a command that is loaded into memory from disk if necessary (ie when the user invoked). File is executed by the command interpreter program. Executable file is the file extension .COM, .BAT and .EXE.
The commands contained in MS-DOS, namely:
- Communication with the system.
- Working with directories.
- Work with disks.
- Management of the input/ output.
- Management of files
- Management of batch files
- Adjustment (settings) work environment
The following command format of writing an outline is:

Description:
NameofCommand: command statement to be executed.
Parameters: provision of hospitality in running order.
Drive: the drive name of the destination or the source.
